Live March residents evacuated as firefighters tackle blaze

Peopel were evacuated from their homes tonight (Thursday) as firefighters tackle a 'large fire' in a Cambridgeshire town. More than 20 firefighters were at the scene on Hundred Road, March. Police first confirmed they were called the incident shortly before 6pm.

People were urged to the avoid the area. A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a large fire in March whereby people are being evacuated from their homes. We were alerted of the fire in Hundred Road just before 6pm this evening.

Please avoid the area until further notice." A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the fire had been dealt with shortly before 9pm: "The fire is now out and crews are preparing to leave the scene once it is safe. We will be carrying out an investigation tomorrow to try and establish the cause of the fire.
