LIVE: Police at Mercedes-Benz Stoke as fire leaves cars looking like this

Police remain at one of Stoke-on-Trent’s biggest car dealerships this afternoon after a number of vehicles were found burnt-out in the middle of the night. One StokeonTrentLive reader discovered two police cars and two fire engines outside Mercedes-Benz Stoke – at Cobridge[1] traffic lights – at 4am this morning. The reader said: “One of the vehicles was still emitting smoke from the rear when I got there so I assume the fire had only just been extinguished a few seconds prior to my arrival.”

Mercedes-Benz Stoke has this afternoon declined to comment on the situation when approached by StokeonTrentLive. The exact nature of any police investigation has yet to be disclosed. It is not yet known whether the vehicles were for sale or belonged to customers or staff.

The value of the damage has yet to be disclosed. StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police[2] and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[3] for statements following the overnight fire. Any witnesses can call the police on 101.
