LIVE: PSNI issue roads warning due to ‘widespread ice’ and weather alert in force for some areas

Police warned drivers of ‘widespread ice’ on the roads on Monday morning. The PSNI[1] urged motorists to exercise caution, “particularly on untreated roads”. A yellow weather[2] warning for ice issued by the Met Office[3] covering parts of Co Down and Co Armagh cam was in place until 10am.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The Police Service of Northern Ireland urges motorists to exercise caution this morning, particularly on untreated roads, as below freezing overnight temperatures have caused widespread ice throughout the road network. “Stick to main, gritted roads when possible. “Slow down, and increase your braking distance from the vehicle in front.”
