Live updates as police respond to unexploded ‘bomb’ found in Dorking
A cordon is in place in Dorking as emergency services respond to a reported ‘bomb’ found on Hampstead Road south of the town centre. It comes as police confirm a suspected piece of unexploded ordinance has been found by a member of the public. The road has been closed between the junction with Coldharbour Lane and the junction with Falkland Road and Barrington Road.
Officers have warned of localised disruption. A spokesperson for Surrey Police confirmed: “Officers were called at 12.55pm this afternoon (January 6) to Hampstead Road in Dorking after what is suspected to be an unexploded ordinance was found by a member of the public.” They continued: “A cordon has been put in place and the road is currently closed from the junction with Coldharbour Lane to the junction with Falkland Road and Barrington Road.
There may be localised disruption for a short time whilst authorities deal with the device. “Please avoid the area and follow any instructions given to you by officers. Thank you for your patience, we will provide an update when we can.”
