Leicestershire Police remain working on scene and the road is expected to be closed for several hours. There is 3 miles of congestion on approach to the closure so allow extra journey time. National Highways | 6:00 am
Leicestershire Police currently lead the response to an incident which was first reported to National Highways at 5am. Due to the nature of this incident, we are currently unable to advise when the road is likely to re-open. National Highways have resources in attendance to assist with traffic management.
Diversion Route Road users are advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol on road signs: – Leave the M1 southbound at J22 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A50.
– Follow the A50 eastbound to the A50/A46 interchange and at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A46. – Continue on the A46 back to M1 J21A and merge with the M1 southbound to continue your journey. If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.
