M5 crash victim rushed to hospital after three-car pile-up

A man was rushed to hospital following a three-car crash[1] on the M5. Police have now charged a woman, aged 65 and from Wellington, for failing to provide a specimen for analysis. The crash took place on the southbound carriageway near Cullompton at around 6pm yesterday evening (January 8).

It led to long delays between junctions 28 and 29 as emergency services responded. A man, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing. Two other people were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Try BristolLive Premium for FREE with no ads and new features[3] A force spokesperson said: “A 65-year-old woman, from Wellington, has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and has been released on bail to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on 25 January.” They added: “Police were called at around 6pm on Monday 8 January to reports of a collision involving three cars on the southbound carriageway of the M5, between junctions 28 and 29.

“A man in his 60s was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing.

Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.”
