M6 crash live as Birmingham rush hour drivers face long delays amid lane closures
Birmingham drivers have been warned of 'long delays' on the M6 Southbound this afternoon following a second crash on the motorway.[1] Emergency services were called to two separate crashes hours apart on same the stretch. The latest collision took place between J7, Walsall, and J6, Spaghetti Junction, shortly before 3pm. Three lanes out of four are shut near to the Great Barr carriageway.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where paramedics say a "lorry had come off the road and crashed." Rush hour motorists were told to expect congestion back to J8 for the M5 interchange. Traffic in the area has been made worse as the carriageway between J6 and J5 remained closed at 5.30pm following another crash earlier this morning. The 10.30am incident involved a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).
