M6 live as two-car crash causes severe delays

A crash on the M6 is causing serious delays for motorists. The two-car collision forced the partial closure of the M6 southbound between J5 (Birmingham) and J4A (M42) due to a collision. That has caused gridlock.

One lane was blocked between J5 and J4A for some time during rush hour – and although the closure has ended, the delays remain. Be aware – delays of around 50 minutes have been experienced by drivers. National Highways and recovery vehicles were dispatched to the scene.

National Highways said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, at 7.12am: “Lane 4 (of 4) is closed on the M6 southbound between J5 (Birmingham) and J4A (M42) due to a collision. Recovery are now on scene. There are delays of at least 50 minutes on approach.”
