Main route into New Milton, the A337 Christchurch Road, closed by Hampshire County Council after crash

A MAIN route into New Milton is currently closed after a car careered off the road earlier this morning (Thursday). Hampshire County Council’s highways agency has access to the A337 Christchurch Road blocked off at the Milestone Roundabout between Walkford and Highcliffe. This follows police having responded to a call-out at 7am to a single-vehicle collision on the carriageway.

No injuries were reported, according to a spokesperson for the Hampshire force.

At the scene, the A&T observed damage to railings and fencing just before the bridge towards the roundabout, but this has not been confirmed as related to this morning’s crash.

There was also signs of ice still on the road around 11.30am, but this has also not been confirmed as a contributing factor.

Motorists heading through Walkford to get to New Milton are encountering slow-moving traffic due to roadworks with temporary lights in place.
