Man, 19, killed in M62 crash after car overturned is named

A young man who died after a car overturned in a crash on the M62[1] has been named. The crash, involving one car, happened on the westbound side of the motorway near junction 21 for Milnrow at around 10.30pm on Thursday, December 21. Police said the driver "lost control" before crashing into the central reservation, the MEN reports.[2][3]

The victim, a 19-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car has now been named as Adnan Malek. The driver, another 19-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, while another passenger escaped uninjured.

A man was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving[6].

He has since been released under investigation. A police probe is continuing. The motorway was closed after the incident as investigations were carried out.

It remained shut for hours in both directions between junction 21 and 22. Any witnesses are now being urged to contact Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU). Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who has dash cam or mobile phone footage.
