Man, 50, arrested in 2013 Bucks killing
HILLTOWN TWP., Pa. – Authorities in Bucks County say a 50-year-old man has been charged in a 2013 homicide. Thomas Delgado, 50, faces multiple charges, including homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, and criminal conspiracy, according to a news release from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. Detectives with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Hilltown Township Police Department arrested Delgado, of Philadelphia, on Wednesday, the DA’s office said.
After being arraigned, he was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility and denied bail. The DA’s office says he is being charged in the 2013 Hilltown Township murder of Joseph Canazaro. Bucks County and Hilltown Detectives were able to identify Delgado as one of the two men who broke into Canazaro’s home, according to the news release.
During the home invasion robbery, police say the men tied up Canazaro, his girlfriend, and his juvenile son and ransacked the home, taking guns, money, jewelry, and other items. While inside the home, Delgado sexually assaulted the female, according to the DA’s office. The woman and the boy managed to escape, and she called 911.
When police arrived, they found Canazaro, 48, dead inside the garage, the DA’s office said. An autopsy concluded the cause of death was multiple stab wounds, and the manner of death was homicide. “It would be wrong to call this a cold case.
These detectives have spent more than a decade seeking justice for these victims,” District Attorney Jen Schorn said. “Like they always do, detectives never relented in the pursuit for justice, and now, we are able to announce an arrest.” “We are continuing to investigate this murder and are asking for the public’s help for information,” she said. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Bucks County Detectives at 215-348-6354 or the Hilltown Township Police Department at 215-435-6011.
