Man charged with shoplifting spree and security guard attack
A man is set to appear in court after being charged with nine shoplifting offences in Yeovil[1]. Liam Allen, 34 and of no fixed address, also faces a charge of assault by beating. He will appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court today (January 17) following the charges relating to offences which took place between Monday, December 4, 2023 and Friday, January 12, 2024. Avon and Somerset Police[2] said alcohol, candles and health and beauty products were stolen in the Yeovil area.
Meanwhile, the assault by beating charge relates to an incident at a shop in the town. It reportedly took place on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 and involved a security guard being pushed.
Police said: “A man is due to appear before magistrates today (Wednesday 17 January) charged with multiple counts of shoplifting.
“Liam Allen, 34, of no fixed address, will appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court charged with nine counts of theft from a shop. He also faces one charge of assault by beating. “The shoplifting charges relate to nine separate incidents in the Yeovil area between 4 December and 12 January in which alcohol, candles and health and beauty products were stolen.
“The assault by beating charge relates to an incident at a shop in Yeovil on 5 December in which a security guard was pushed.”
