Man found dead at Plymouth home by relative

The body of a 37-year-old man was found at his home by a close relative, an inquest has revealed. The short public hearing into the death of Scott Ashland was held at Plymouth Coroner’s court on December 29 following his sad passing on September 5, 2023. The duty coroner Sarah Le Fevre noted brief details about the matter, stating that Mr Ashland was born in Plymouth and resided at a property in Wilcove Close, Weston Mill.

Ms Le Fevre explained that at the time of his passing Mr Ashland was single and had no occupation.

During the brief hearing the coroner went on to note a summary of the circumstances of Mr Ashland’s death, explaining: “Scott was found by his brother on the lounge floor cold and unresponsive. An ambulance was called, but on arrival Scott was sadly pronounced deceased.

There are no suspicious circumstances.” Ms Le Fevre stated during the hearing that on the present evidence the medical cause of death had been ascertained as the “toxic effects of cocaine and Zopiclone” with “epilepsy” being a secondary cause. The hearing was adjourned and a full inquest examining all the circumstances will be held at a later date.
