BMW in crash (Image: Newsquest) A man was hospitalised after a BMW crashed into a hedge along a major Swindon[1] road. The crash happened along Great Western Way at around 1pm on Friday, January 5.

The incident happened between Mannington Roundabout and the Meads Roundabout, over the road from the Honda garage and near to the KFC inside of the Delta Business Park. Images taken of the aftermath show damage to the front of the black BMW as it is being put on the back of a recovery vehicle. One lane was closed by Wiltshire Police while the incident was dealt with.

There was heavy traffic in the area, however within approximately an hour and a half of police arriving at the scene, traffic had returned to its normal levels and the lane closure was having little effect. A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called shortly before 1.10pm to a report of a collision on the Great Western Way opposite the Honda garage involving a BMW. “One male driver was taken to hospital for [assessment].

Recovery was arranged for the vehicle.”
