Man killed after being hit by car as driver arrested
A man on a mobility scooter has died after being hit by a car. Cheshire Police were called to Chester Way in Northwich at around 6.35pm on Friday, December 29, following reports of a crash. Once police arrived at the scene they found a white Hyundai IX20 and a man on a mobility scooter had crashed.
The driver of the scooter, a 38-year-old man from Liverpool, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 53-year-old man from the Northwich area, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has since been released under investigation. Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident.
