Man released under investigation after murder arrest
Man released under investigation on suspicion of murder (Image: Daily Echo) A MAN who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains under investigation. The man in his 60s was arrested after a woman in her 80s died in a house fire in Kings Avenue, Christchurch[1].
Police launched an investigation into the death on September 13 when the fire broke out on the ground floor of the home. Four fire crews battled the blaze but the woman, who was known to the arrested man, died at the scene. Providing an update, Dorset Police said: "The arrested man remains released under investigation as our enquiries continue and there is no further update at this time."
A cordon was put up outside the house for much of the day, with residents concerned about what had happened.
One neighbour said it was "worrying" given there were so many children looking at the crime[2] scene on their way home from school.
Another man said the fire must've all "been from within" as he didn't see any flames from the outside.
