Man seriously injured after car crashes into parked van in south Manchester
A man has suffered serious injuries after a crash on a road in south Manchester. Emergency services were called to the smash involving a car and a parked van in Longley Lane, Northenden, shortly before 12.50pm today (Wednesday). The driver of the car - a man in his 70s - suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital for treatment, police confirmed.

Fire crews cut a man free from one of the vehicles, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said. Police are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and help their enquiries. You can also report information to GMP's website using the 'report' tool: www.gmp.police.uk[2] A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "At just before 1pm today (Wednesday January 10) two fire engines from Wythenshawe[3] and Stockport[4] fire stations as well as the technical response unit from Ashton-Under-Lyne fire station attended a crash between one car and a van on Longley Lane, Sharston. "Firefighters using specialist cutting equipment rescued a male from one of the vehicles and handed them to the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.
Crews were in attendance for around one hour."
