Mark Ormrod’s prosthetic legs found in alley way after being stolen

Mark Ormrod’s prosthetic legs have been found down an alley way after they were stolen by thieves. The former Royal Marine, from Plymouth[1], announced the news on social media last night (January 10). A set of his prosthetic legs, as well as other equipment, was stolen from his car outside a Premier Inn in London[2].

After being told by hotel staff that CCTV cameras didn’t capture what happened, he appealed to the public on social media for help. He has since confirmed that a woman messaged him to say that she had found his belongings in an alley by her house. Mark said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter[3] ) at 10.46pm last night: “THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA!

“So on my way out of London tonight I checked my emails and DM’s and had messages from a woman who said she’d found my stuff just after 8pm last night in an alley by her house and somehow saw my social media post about it!!! I now have everything back.” The thieves reportedly smashed the rear view window of his car before stealing the items.

Mark previously explained on X: “Not the best start to my day!!! Had my car broken into last night. They stole a bag full of sweaty gym cloths, another bag with my JiuJitsu Gi in and what’s really inconvenient is they took a set of my prosthetic legs!

“Despite having 3 cameras pointing at my car I was told by the staff at the hotel that they couldn’t see any activity as the view to my car was blocked by another car (might be time to reposition those cameras) “The sad thing is to think that someone would break into a car parked in a disabled parking space and steal equipment someone needs to live independently and not even care.” Mark became a triple amputee in 2007, after losing both his legs and his right arm in Afghanistan.

He was presented with a Pride of Britain Award last year,[6] for raising hundreds of thousands of pounds by undertaking remarkable feats of endurance.
