Men chased by police as speed camera is ‘cut down with an angle …

Greater Manchester Police announced that on Saturday, January 6, officers saw two men cutting down a speed camera that had been recently erected on Warrington Road, which runs from Newtown to Marus Bridge in Wigan. The officers, who were on a routine patrol, are reported to have chased the culprits on a “short foot pursuit”, with one male being successfully detained. Police have confirmed that a 67-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage following the incident, and has since been released on bail.

There is reported to have been a series of similar incidents involving people cutting down speed cameras across the North West over the festive period.
