Methuen police arrest hit-and-run suspect, seize drugs
METHUEN — Methuen officers responded to a hit-and-run incident with a personal injury on Merrimack Street on Sunday. The victim provided video evidence of the suspect fleeing the scene. Utilizing the footage, officers were able to identify the vehicle’s license plate and traced it to the registered owner, who revealed that his son was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.
Upon entering the garage where the suspect was last seen, officers encountered the individual attempting to escape the scene but detained him promptly. During the arrest, they discovered two bags containing Fentanyl and crack cocaine in his possession. The suspect was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, driving with a suspended license, possession of controlled substances, and outstanding warrants.
The Methuen Police Department is conducting further investigations into the incident.
