Minnesota man injured in one-vehicle crash
ANAMOOSE - A Little Falls, Minnesota, man was injured in a one-vehicle rollover on N.D. Highway 14, about 15 miles south of Anamoose, on Tuesday. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Wade Wittwer, 55, driving a semi-truck pulling a trailer, was going north on the highway about 1:30 p.m. when the vehicle ran off the road to the right, Wittwer corrected and the vehicle ran off the road to the left.
The vehicle went over an approach, tripped onto its driver's side and slid into the west side ditch striking a utility pole. Wittwer suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Trinity Hospital in Minot. He was wearing his seat belt.
According to the Highway Patrol, Wittwer stated he was reaching for his water bottle that was on his floorboard prior to running off the road. He is being charged with failure to maintain control (distracted driving), the Highway Patrol said. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
