Moment car flies over island near Tesco as witness asks ‘is anyone alive?’
A dramatic incident was caught on camera outside a Tesco after a car launched over a roundabout. A motorist’s dashcam captured the moment the vehicle went airborne before crashing into the ground and landing on its side. The owner of the dashcam footage, Dale Machin, said the car “came out of absolutely nowhere” and he was left fearing for the driver’s safety.
As seen on video, the car came down onto its nose before flipping in the air and landing on its side, reports CambridgeshireLive.[1] Debris could also be seen flying in the air. The driver of the vehicle was a man in his seventies.

Dale Machin, who witnessed the incident in Fenland Way, said: “The car came out of absolutely nowhere and just completely took me by surprise. My first thought was: is anyone actually alive or am I going to see something which will stick with me?
“Luckily, after about a minute or so, more people came over to help. The guy in the car was stuck on his side, so we all pushed the car back and got him out while we waited for the emergency services. “Luckily, he was not injured – aside from, no doubt, some inevitable bruising.
I don’t believe the guy in question was local and I believe he came all the way from Birmingham to visit his sister. It wasn’t clear how he managed to go straight over the roundabout as he was very dazed at the time.” A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.26pm to Fenland Way, Chatteris, with reports that a car had overturned at the roundabout near Tesco[4].
There were no other vehicles involved.
“Officers attended and the driver, a man in his 70s, was uninjured.”
