Murder investigation launched after woman found dead in Staffordshire house

A murder probe has been launched after a woman was found dead inside a Staffordshire[1] house. Emergency services were called to Orchard Street in Stafford shortly after 11.15pm on Friday (December 29) after reports of a woman who had died. Once inside they found a woman, 77, who was dead.

A 78-year-old man from the Stafford area was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has since been released on bail while enquiries are ongoing. Staffordshire Police[2] is now appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch. A spokesperson for the force said: “A man has been arrested following the death of a woman in Stafford.

We were called to Orchard Street, just after 11.15pm on Friday night (December 29), following reports that a 77-year-old woman had sadly been found dead inside a property. “Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. A 78-year-old man, from the Stafford area, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has been released under investigation while our inquiries continue.
