Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy. The collision happened on the A419[1] near junction 15 for the M4 at Swindon. Wiltshire police said the crash happened when a Vauxhall Astra coming up the slip-road from the eastbound M4 collided with the roundabout at the junction.

The incident happened shortly before 11pm last Tuesday, January 2. An occupant of the vehicle, who has now been formally identified as 17-year-old Jamie Donnelly[2] from Swindon, was declared dead at the scene. Police said their thoughts remain with his family.

The renewed appeal said: “We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage following a fatal collision on the A419 at the junction with the M4 last Tuesday. We are appealing for anybody who witnessed the collision or may have dash cam footage from either the A419 roundabout or the M4 to please get in touch with us.” If you can help, please email police at [email protected] quoting log 361 of January 2.

Information can also be given via 101 by quoting the same log number. Wiltshire Police[5] said last wee week the car was being pursued by officers at the time. The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for further investigation.
