New driver ordered to take speed awareness course after speeding on M55

The new driver was speeding in icy conditions (Image: Lancs Police) A new driver that was speeding in icy conditions on the motorway has been ordered to take a speed awareness course. They were driving in lane 3 at excess speed on the M55.

They obtained three points on their licence and was ordered to do a speed awareness course. They were travelling at speeds of up to 86mph this morning (Monday, January 15) at 12am. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “This new driver thought it was ok to drive in lane 3 on M55 motorway at excess speed in potentially icy conditions.

“Hopefully the speed awareness course or three points on their new licence may slow them down in future.”
