One in hospital after van ends up on its side during morning crash outside shops

Emergency services attended the collision, which was at the junction of Catcote Road and Marlowe Road in Hartlepool at around 8am, following reports of a crash.
After arriving on the scene, paramedics and police sealed off the road to allow them to work. Images from the scene showed the van on its side and police tape outside a row of shops, while police could be seen standing next to the overturned vehicle. The North East Ambulance Service has issued a statement on the crash – confirming one person has been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called to a road traffic collision on Catcote Road, Hartlepool this morning (8 January) at 8.12am. “We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and two HART crews (Hazardous Area Response Team).
One patient was taken to North Tees Hospital.” Police have said that one of the drivers has been reported for summons for driving without due care and attention. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police added: “Officers attended a three-vehicle collision at the junction of Catcote Road and Mowbray Road in Hartlepool, this morning at 8:15am.
“A blue VW Caddy van, a red Ford Fiesta and a minibus were involved.
“The 43-year-old woman driving the Caddy van was taken to the University of North Tees with a suspected fracture to her arm.
“The driver of the minibus was reported for summons for driving without due care and attention.”
