Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Albany Avenue in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in West Hartford.

Police responded to a report of a car versus pedestrian on Albany Avenue near Mohegan Drive at 5:48 p.m.

Police say the adult pedestrian was transported to an area hospital but died as a result of their injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

"The West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is actively investigating this incident," police said in a statement.

West Hartford police say Albany Avenue between King Philip Drive/Trout Brook Drive and Seneca Road is closed to motor vehicle traffic in both directions.

Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes.
