Person dies after incident on Devon train tracks

A person has died following an incident on train tracks near Cullompton[1]. Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 6.30pm last night (January 3) after reports of a casualty on the railway line. The line between Exeter[2] St Davids and Taunton was blocked, sparking major disruption to services.[3] British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed that a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner. In a full statement, a BTP spokesperson told Devon Live: “Officers were called to the line near Cullompton at around 6.30pm yesterday (January 3) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
