Person found struggling to breathe after exposure to unknown chemical in Cheltenham

A person was found with irritated skin and breathing difficulty after reportedly being exposed to an unknown chemical substance in Cheltenham[1]. Emergency services, including police, paramedics and fire crews, were called to an address in Hine Gardens shortly after 7am this morning (January 11). Gloucestershire Police[2] said they received an "abandoned 999 call" and officers rushed to the scene.

The person found inside was checked over by paramedics and required no further treatment. Police said that investigations into the incident are continuing. Officers will remain in the area but there is no risk to the wider public.

Gloucestershire Police said: "Emergency services attended an address in Hine Gardens, Cheltenham, shortly after 7am today after receiving an abandoned 999 call. "On arrival, it was reported that a person inside the property had been exposed to an unknown chemical substance, resulting in irritation to the skin and difficulty in breathing. "A search of the property was carried out by the fire service but no chemical agents were found.

The victim was examined by paramedics and needed no further medical attention.

"Investigations into the incident are continuing, but there is no risk to the wider public.

Police will continue to patrol the area to reassure the community."
