Police close road and put cordon in place after crash

Police have closed a main road and put a cordon in place following a crash. Merseyside Police closed Priory Road in Anfield[1] on Thursday evening (January 11) following reports of an incident. The force confirmed to The ECHO they were responding to reports of a crash, but were unable to give any further details at the time.

Priory Road is closed to all traffic between Walton[2] Lane and Utting Avenue, with a cordon on the road between Anfield Cemetery and Stanley Park. Over half a dozen police vehicles are at the scene, including Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit cars.

A pedal bike can be seen lying on the pavement, but it’s unclear if this is involved in the incident.

Due to a cordon being in place, Arriva North West have diverted its 68 and 68A services away from the area. An update on the social media platform, X, said: “Due to Police incident Walton Lane Priory Road Service 68/ 68A will operate via Utting Avenue, Queens Drive and Rice lane in both directions. Omitting County Road Walton Lane and Section of Priory Road.”
