Police in Chippenham will continue to target speeding
Officers from the Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing Team have been clamping down on offending motorists in recent months by carrying out speed checks throughout the town. During a question and answer session with Inspector Pete Foster and Sergeant Jamie Ball, residents raised concerns about speeding in the town. One local said: “Are you doing anything about speeding, particularly along Malmesbury Road, Bristol Road and Hungerdown Lane?”
Sgt Ball revealed that, over the past four months, police had conducted speed checks at 32 different locations in the Chippenham area. Insp Foster emphasised that the force would continue targeting speeding. He said: “We recognise speeding is a concern for most of our communities, it’s something that we will work with partners to try and tackle. “The locations named, I know that the team has been out at various points over the last couple of months to do speed checks on those areas.”
Parish or town councils can make applications for Speed Indicator Devices on problem roads, which can inform where police conduct checks.
