Police name man charged with drug offences after car stopped on M6

Officers pulled over the black Audi A5 at 11pm on December 30 (Image: Newsquest) POLICE have named a man charged with dealing ketamine after stopping a car on the M6. Hamza Niazi was also charged with possession of criminal property after a search of the car.

Officers from Cheshire Police's Road and Crime Unit stopped a black Audi A5 between junctions 19 and 20 of the M6 at 11pm on Saturday, December 30. The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, and has since been charged with possession with intent to supply ketamine, and possession of criminal property. Niazi, of High Road, Turnford, Hertfordshire, was remanded in custody, and will appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, January 30.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "At around 11pm on Saturday, December 30, officers from the Roads and Crime Unit stopped a black Audi A5 on the M6 between junction 19 and 20.

"Following a search of the car, the driver, Hamza Niazi, of High Road, Turnford, was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

"The 31-year-old has since been charged with possession with intent to supply class B drugs (ketamine), and possession of criminal property."
