Police probe after teen cyclist ‘struck by taxi at Premier Inn car park’
Police have launched a probe into a collision after a teenage cyclist was reportedly struck by a taxi outside a hotel. The incident happened at Premier Inn Nuneaton, based on Coventry Road,[1] at around 11.45pm on Friday, December 29. Police said two teenagers had been cycling on the major route before reportedly being chased into the hotel’s car park by a blue taxi.
One of the teens suffered potentially serious injuries after being struck by a car, paramedics said. Warwickshire Police[2] today issued a public appeal urging anyone with information to contact the force. A force spokesperson said: “Two teenage boys who were cycling on Coventry Road in Nuneaton[3] were reportedly chased into the Premier Inn car park by a blue taxi.
“The car, believed to be a Toyota, is then alleged to have collided with one of the boys, causing injuries. If you were in the area at this time and saw anything that might help us with our investigations, or if you have any CCTV or dashcam footage, get in contact with us by calling 101, quoting incident 322 of December 29.” A West Midlands Ambulance[5] spokesperson added: “We were called at 11.47pm on December 29, 2023, to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Coventry Road, Griff in Nuneaton.
“One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a Critical Care Car from the Air Ambulance Service attended the scene.
Upon arrival we found a teenage boy with potentially serious injuries that were not life threatening.
“He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to University Hospital Coventry for further treatment.”
