Police Release Names of the Victims of the Mutare-Marange Haulage Truck Accident
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of the six victims of the Mutare-Marange road accident which happened on Friday.
In an official statement issued, the police not only confirmed the unfortunate incident but also provided additional details.

Mutare-Marange Haulage Truck Disaster Accident
Six people died on Friday, while 7 others were left severely injured after a haulage truck rammed into a Madza BT50.
In a statement[2], the police confirmed the tragic incident which happened at around 1:30 pm along Mutare-Marange road.

"The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 12 January 2024 at 1.30 PM at the 35-kilometre peg along Mutare-Marange Road in which six people were killed while 12 others were injured. According to the police statement, the Mazda BT50 which was carrying 17 passengers was hit from behind by a haulage truck while giving way to a stationary truck.

"A Mazda BT50 vehicle with 17 passengers on board, which was travelling towards 22 Miles was hit from behind by a haulage truck while giving way to a stationary truck at Marange Turn-Off."

The driver of the haulage truck reportedly fled from the scene.
Police Release Names of the Victims
Meanwhile, police have since identified the victims of the tragic road accident. Sadly, an infant, aged 1 was among the six dead victims of the Mutare-Marange haulage truck accident
Here are the names of the deceased victims;
- Anna Tariri Machangachanga, 30, of Sakubva (Mutare);
- Joyce Juchi of Mushunje Primary School (Mutare);
- Portia Nyamajo, 43, (Chikanga - Mutare);
- Nomatter Henzira, 35, of Mushunje Primary School, Mutare
- Tsitsi Masudze aged 47 of Dangamvura, Mutare.
- Adella Henzira, age 1, of Mushunje Primary School Mutare.
The injured were admitted to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital mortuary.
