Article content If you saw a kangaroo hopping around Reeder's Line in Howard Township Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police wants to you to know you were not hallucinating. Police said the little animal made a daring escape from Greenview Aviaries and went on a short-lived adventure.

Police said staff members quickly rounded up the kangaroo and returned it safely to the local zoo and park attraction. Article content A female kangaroo made the news after escaping from the Oshawa Zoo and Fun Farm on Dec.

1, 2023 during a stop on its journey to another zoo in Quebec. The kangaroo proved more difficult to capture as it remained on the lam until it was finally caught by Durham Regional police officers in the early morning hours of Dec.

Man, teens charged in crash

One man and two teens face charges after a stolen vehicle crashed into a ditch southeast of London. Elgin OPP responded Tuesday just after 1 p.m. to a single-vehicle collision on Wilson Line, east of Imperial Road, in Malahide Township, where investigators determined the vehicle involved had been reported stolen in Essex County, police said.

Nobody was injured and three suspects were arrested, police said. A Tecumseh man, 21, and two 15-year-olds, one from Windsor, the other from Leamington, are charged with possession of property over £5,000 obtained by crime.

Police busy with Wednesday morning crashes

Ontario Provincial Police officers north of London in Huron County were called to five crashes Wednesday morning, including one rollover, as winter weather made driving more treacherous. Article content

Police say officers responded to five vehicles in ditches as of 9 a.m. Wednesday amid "deteriorating weather conditions" across the area. "Freezing rain, snow and slush are resulting in slippery conditions," police warned on social media. Police and paramedics also responded to a four-vehicle crash on Hyde Park Road near Eight Mile Road, just north of London.

There were no injuries, according to a social-media post from OPP Const. Jeff Hare. There were no weather warnings from Environment Canada for the London area as of Wednesday morning but cold temperatures continued.

The national weather agency projected it would feel like -7 C on Wednesday night and much the same Thursday morning.
