A police car on the scene of the serious collision (Image: TERRY BLACKBURN) Police have sealed off a major A-road after a serious crash that has seen the fire service and paramedics also attend. Emergency Service were called to the A689 Stockton Road in Hartlepool at around 10.25pm on Friday (January 5), following reports of a serious collision.

Other details about the incident at this stage haven't been shared, but Cleveland Police have put out a short statement.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "The A689 Stockton Road in Hartlepool is currently closed in both directions following a serious collision. "Emergency services remain at the scene. Please use alternative routes.

"Thank you for your patience."
