Second attempted murder charge after Torquay town centre ‘attack’

A second person has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged attack in Torquay[1]. The incident happened on Tuesday morning in the Castle Circus area of the town centre and resulted in police cordons being put in place. Devon and Cornwall Police[2] said a man, aged in his 30s, suffered lacerations to his back and head[3] following an attack in the early hours of the morning.

Two people have now been charged with attempted murder. Katie Rockett, aged 29, of no fixed abode in Torquay, was charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.[4] She appeared before Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, January 10, and was remanded in custody. Rockett is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday, February 8.

Now, police have confirmed that Ryan Dodd, aged 29, of Abbey Road, Torquay, has been charged with attempted murder, assault by beating, possession of a bladed article and criminal damage.

He is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 11.
