State police cruiser struck by pick-up on F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack

MERRIMACK — A New Hampshire State Police cruiser was struck from behind by a pick-up truck early Thursday morning, causing significant traffic delays but resulting in no injuries. At approximately 5:50 a.m. on Jan.

4, Trooper Tyler Duhamel was responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike near mile marker 13.8.

While parked in the breakdown lane with his K-9 partner, Ivy, Duhamel’s cruiser was hit by the pick-up. The pick-up’s driver, Anthony Remillard, 39, of Chester, was not injured in the collision. Both Duhamel and his K-9 companion were also unharmed.

The incident led to substantial traffic congestion during the morning commute, with backups extending five miles to the Bedford Tolls and resulting in two additional crashes on the Turnpike. The right lane was closed for cleanup for about an hour. The crash remains under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police.
