State police: NYPD officer from Shirley killed in single-car crash on Southern State Parkway

Jan 08, 2024, 3:39amUpdated 3h ago By: News 12 Staff State police say an NYPD officer from Shirley was killed in a single-car crash Sunday morning on the Southern State Parkway.

It happened near Exit 13 in the Town of Hempstead around 7:15 a.m. They say 32-year-old Clifford Saintvil ran off the road and hit a tree on the right shoulder. The New York City Police Benevolent Association posted photos to social media Sunday night of a final salute to Saintvil.

According to the social media post, the crash happened while Saintvil was on his way to work.

He was an officer at the 113th Precinct in Queens.

Saintvil was pronounced dead at the hospital.
