Storm Henk flooding: photos Camera Club snappers
The storm’s strong winds have uprooted trees across the county. Brian Daniels was in the right place to spot a tree which had been blown down on a narrowboat on the towpath near the Osney Mead industrial estate. No one appeared to have been hurt.
Lucie Johnson braved a wet Port Meadow to take her dog for a walk, while Ian Marriott took a series of shots of flooded fields in west Oxford. Roads across Oxfordshire have been affected by flood water. There are 34 flood alerts issued across Oxfordshire and nine flood warnings on rivers in the area.
Storm Henk has battered large parts of the UK. The Met Office issued an amber warning for high winds yesterday, with trees falling across the county including on the railway line between Bicester North and Banbury. This caused trains to run at a reduced speed causing delays on the line towards the West Midlands.
A Chiltern Railways statement said earlier: “Due to a tree blocking the line towards the West Midlands between Bicester[3] and Banbury train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 40 minutes. “This is whilst work is carried out to remove the blockage. “Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
