Sunderland man dies after being struck by car in Hadley

HADLEY — A 33-year-old Sunderland man died Saturday after he was struck by a car while walking along the edge of Route 116 in Hadley, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. Hadley Police, State Police assigned to the DA’s office, and emergency personnel responded to the scene after the driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old Deerfield woman, called 911 after the collision occurred. Route 116 is a divided highway and the victim was heading south at the time he was struck.
No information about the time of the incident was provided Saturday. When police and firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered that the man had been struck by a motor vehicle and was unresponsive. Emergency responders immediately began medical care, according to the DA’s office.
The victim was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton where he later died.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hadley Police Department, State Police assigned to the DA’s Office, State Troopers assigned to the the Crime Scene Services Collision Analysis and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction sections, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
