Suspect released as investigation into fatal crash continues

A 38-year-old man from Liverpool died following a crash on Chester Way, shortly after 6.30pm on Friday (December 29). He had been riding a mobility scooter when he was involved in a collision with a white Hyundai IX20. The driver of the Hyundai, a 53-year-old man from the Northwich area, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

However, Cheshire Police have today (January 3) confirmed that he has since been released under investigation pending further inquiries. Officers are continuing to appeal for information from the public about what happened. “Inquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident,” said a spokesperson for the force.
