Teen Dies After Car Crash While Heading Home from Work: ‘Wasn’t Much More They Could Do,’ Says Dad

o More than £103,000 has been raised via a GoFundMe campaign for the teen’s family following her sudden death A Staten Island teenager has died after she was involved in a multi-car crash in New Jersey on Friday. The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. local time when a Chevrolet lost control while traveling north on the Garden State Parkway, according to a statement from New Jersey State Police, obtained by PEOPLE.
The Chevrolet hit the left side of the BMW before “entering the Dodge’s lane of travel,” state police added. The Dodge subsequently collided with the Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevrolet, 18-year-old Madison Alfano, was seriously injured in the crash and died on Saturday morning, according to state police.

The Rossville teen’s father, Lou Alfano, said she was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and underwent multiple surgeries, but then died, per SILive.com[3].

Madison worked in the sports equipment department at Monmouth University, Lou said, per SILive.com. She “loved having a car” and the independence it brought her, he added. Madison graduated from Tottenville High School in 2023, and subsequently attended Monmouth University, according to SILive.com.
She had two younger sisters: Lucia, a freshman at Tottenville High School, and Ashley, an eighth-grade student at Totten Intermediate School. Jessica Goldstein, who organized the campaign, described Madison as “a beloved daughter, sister, student and friend to all.”
“No parents should have to bury their 18 year old daughter,” Goldstein wrote in the description of the campaign, adding, “It’s times like these we must come together, especially for families like the Alfanos who have continuously been of huge support to everyone around them.”
