Teenage girl killed in fatal crash in Cornwall
A teenage girl has died after being hit by a car on the A388 in Cornwall. Police are now appealing for information and dashcam footage following the crash crash which took place close to the junction with Stoke Road in Callington on Wednesday afternoon.[1][2] The collision involved one vehicle – a silver-coloured Mitsubishi Colt – and a pedestrian. Police say that the pedestrian – a 17-year-old local female – has died following the incident.
The male driver of the car is helping police with their enquiries, as CornwallLive reports.[3] Response officers, Southwest Ambulance Services along with officers from the Roads Policing Team and the Forensic Collision Investigation team from Devon and Cornwall Police[4] all attended the scene just before 6pm. Police are now appealing for witnessess or dashcam footage from the area.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “At 5.53pm on Wednesday, January 17, police were called to a report of a single vehicle having been in collision with a pedestrian on the A388 close to the junction with Stoke[7] Road in Callington. A silver-coloured Mitsubishi colt had been involved in the collision. The male driver remained at the scene and is helping with enquiries.
“As a result of the collision, a 17-year-old local female sadly passed away having been conveyed to Derriford Hospital[8]. Next of kin are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.” Officers would like to thank those members of the public who had stopped and assisted at the scene.
