Texas man killed in Sabine Parish wreck; 2 juveniles hurt

SABINE PARISH, La. (KSLA) – A man from Texas lost his life in a crash in Sabine Parish on Monday, Jan.

15.

Louisiana State Police says it happened around 4 p.m. Monday on LA Highway 6 near Pioneer Road in Sabine Parish. As a result of the wreck, Frank Bankston, 78, was killed.

LSP says preliminary details show Bankston was driving a 2008 Lexus west on Highway 6, when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle went off the road, into a ditch, and hit a tree.

Bankston, who was not wearing his seat belt, sustained fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead on scene. Two juveniles who were in the car, who were wearing their seatbelts, were moderately injured and taken to a local hospital. LSP says a routine toxicology sample was taken from Bankston for analysis.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

Conditions on many roads throughout northwest Louisiana were icy Monday, so that may have played a part in the crash.
