The Cambs area named among the least violent in the UK

A new study has revealed that South Cambridgeshire has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the UK. The figures were recently published by security website Get Licensed[1]. The site used GOV.UK data from the last two years across England and Wales to determine the most violent areas in those countries.

It also calculated the number of crimes per 10,000 residents and total amount between 2022 and 2023. South Cambridgeshire[2] was found to be the seventh least violent area in the UK. It reported a crime rate of 162.6 as well as 2,651 crimes in total over the last couple of years.

It was the only local authority area in the county to be included on the list. Richmond upon Thames in London had the lowest rate with 153.2 violent crimes per 10,000 residents. On the other end of the scale, Blackpool was found to be the most dangerous area in the UK for violent crimes, with 769.7 crimes per 10,000 residents.

This was followed by Middlesbrough on 657.6 and Thanet on 621.5.
