The fee Manchester United will get from Borussia Dortmund as Jadon Sancho loan confirmed

Manchester United will receive a guaranteed GBP3million from Borussia Dortmund after the deal to take Jadon Sancho back to his former club on loan was completed. United will recoup most of Sancho’s salary as part of the deal, which will see Dortmund pay an initial fee of EUR3.5m for a loan deal that runs until June 30, 2024. There is no option to buy included in the agreement.

Potential add-ons included in the deal thrashed out between the two clubs make up an extra EUR4m, but for the full amount to be reached Sancho would have to play in all of Dortmund’s games and the club would need to progress all the way in this season’s Champions League[1] and qualify for the competition next term. While that is unlikely, United see any potential fee beyond the EUR3.5m as a bonus, having managed to get the majority of Sancho’s wages off the books for the rest of this season in a deal that also provides the 23-year-old with the chance to return to top-level football. I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge.

“I can’t wait to see my teammates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League.” Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said: “Jadon is an absolute difference player and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in black and yellow soon. He knows this city, Signal Iduna Park, our fans and our club.

“Even though he hasn’t played any competitive games in the past few months, we are sure that he will quickly settle back in with us, get into top form and use his qualities to help us achieve our goals for the season.” Sancho has made only three substitute appearances for United this season, all of them in August, and he has been training on his own since September. The winger was banished from first-team training after accusing manager Erik ten Hag of lying about his absence from the squad for the game at Arsenal, claiming he was being made a “scapegoat”.

Sancho made substitute appearances in the first three games of the Premier League[4] season, but was left out of the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on September 3 with Ten Hag subsequently saying the decision was down to performances in training, adding that players “have to reach a level every day at Manchester United[5].” Within an hour Sancho had taken to social media to dispute that assessment, saying: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue.

I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I have been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!

All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.”
