Thief disguised himself as postman and stole from home

Police are hunting a thief who is disguising himself as a Royal Mail postman to steal from doorsteps. Cheshire Police were called to a home on Roman Crescent in the Kings Moat Garden Village new build estate, Chester, following a report a man dressed as a Royal Mail employee had stolen tools from a property. The Royal Mail clothing used by the offender has since been reported stolen in a separate incident, which happened before the tool theft, the force said.

Officers looking into the incidents have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident. The force said the tool theft happened at around 2pm on November 28 last year.

Police believe the suspect left the area in a silver Peugeot panel van and could also have links to North Wales.

PC James Wright said: “As part of our ongoing investigation, we would urge anyone who recognises the man pictured to get in touch with us. We are also appealing directly to the man himself to make contact.”
