Three men who died in 4×4 river incident were in five-car convoy before tragedy

Leslie Forbes, 70, and Kenneth Patrick Hibbins (known as Patrick), 59, were in a vehicle along with 29-year-old, Scott Daddy, from Hull, when they attempted to cross a ford along the River Esk near Glaisdale on December 28.
At the time of the incident, police, fire service, ambulance and air ambulance all attended the scene – but all three men died during the incident.

In tributes shortly after their deaths, the family of Leslie Forbes, from East Yorkshire, added a touching tribute, stating that he will be “sadly missed” by friends and loved ones.

Meanwhile, the loved ones of Kenneth Patrick Hibbins, from York, said he will be “sadly missed by all his close friends and work colleagues.”
The Northern Echo: The 4×4 involved in the Glaisdale incident The 4×4 involved in the Glaisdale incident (Image: PA MEDIA) On Tuesday (January 16), the inquests into Mr Forbes and Mr Hibbins opened in Northallerton, with assistant coroner of North Yorkshire Mr Jonathan Leach noting that all three men that died in the incident were travelling in a five-car convoy through Glaisdale when that particular car crossed a ford in the river.

Three of the four men died at the scene.
Nothing more was added about what happened to the fourth man that was in the car at the time of the incident.
The inquests of Mr Forbes and Mr Hibbins have been adjourned until a date yet to be fixed.
The inquest into the third person who died, Scott Daddy, from Hull, began on Friday (January 12), where senior North Yorkshire coroner Mr John Heath noted Mr Daddy’s provisional cause of death as drowning and adjourned the inquest until a day yet to be fixed.
