Tragedy as man killed and four injured in horror crash in Coventry

A man tragically died and four people were seriously injured in a horror two-car collision in Coventry[1] last night. The 33-year-old driver of a white Seat Leon Cupra was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Firefly Road, which crosses over the A45 Stonebridge Highway, at about 10.15pm. His family have been informed and are being supported at this awful time, West Midlands Police[2] said.

His passenger, a man in his 30s, was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing. Three people from the second car, a blue Citroen C3, suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver, a man in his 50s, and two female passengers in their 60s, remain in hospital today in a stable condition.

“We’ve spoken to witnesses and investigators are reviewing CCTV from around the area as we work to establish exactly what happened,” a force spokesperson said. “But we’d ask anyone who was driving on or near Firefly Road last night to check their dashcam as it may offer vital details about the collision. “If you can help please contact our Serious Collision Investigation Unit by emailing [email protected][4], messaging us on Live Chat or calling 101 quoting log 4130 of 13 January. Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Tell us what you know not who you are.” Stonebridge Highway was sealed off overnight[5] between Tollbar End and Festival Island while police conducted accident investigation work. The road reopened around 10am.

A statement released by the force added: “We urge motorists to prioritise road safety as their actions can make a significant difference in preventing accidents and protecting lives. We also appreciate the support and cooperation of our communities in reporting any instances of dangerous driving. “Their valuable information helps us take appropriate action and prevent potential harm.
